The Danish consultancy company Nworks A/S has entered into a million DKK agreement with KMD. KMD needed a hosted monitoring solution for Danish municipalities, and decided to use the Danish monitoring solution, CapMon, in preference to large international competitors.

CapMon is a separate business area at Nworks, the key business of which is impartial IT consultancy.

“We initially started the development of CapMon, as we needed a solution for monitoring our customers’ infrastructure and applications. We soon realized that there was a huge need for a product like CapMon on the Danish market. Consequently, we established an independent business unit for this solution. The order from KMD is an excellent example of the needs that CapMon can cover”, explains Henrik Blaaberg, Managing director of Nworks A/S.

“KMD chose CapMon in preference to several well-known international solutions. One of the reasons is the easy accessibility to support and consultancy, as well as the short reaction time in CapMon’s development department. This is a huge advantage for KMD, due to our need for special purpose functionalities” says Claus Steen Jørgensen, Technical Manager of KMD.

The agreement runs for a preliminary period of 3 years.

“The order from KMD emphasizes the fact that CapMon has gained a well-establish position on the Danish market., after nearly seven years as an independent business unit with its own development department. Over the years, we have seen the various advantages that our customers have had with CapMon in their daily operation of their IT infrastructure, and we are of course very pleased that KMD can now offer their customers the same advantages” concludes Henrik Blaaberg.

About CapMon
CapMon is a reporting and monitoring tool that via its web-based graphical user interface gives an overview of the entire IT-infrastructure and the application layer to both technically skilled persons and non-technical persons. Today, CapMon is used by companies like LEGO, DSB, Ballerup Kommune, Codan and DR. CapMon is a flexible system that can monitor and generate special purpose reports, covering the individual needs of our customers. 

Alarm systems in the IT department
All active services in the IT infrastructure can be monitored. CapMon can be configured to send a warning if e.g. the FTP server, mail server, database server, web server, DNS server or terminal server needs special attention. If the response times increases, or one of the services monitored are disrupted, CapMon sends an alarm to the person(s) responsible for the system.

Service Level Agreements
An example of report functionality in CapMon is the SLA status. In CapMon you can generate a report showing the SLA status measured against the actual Service Level Agreements that each individual customer has made with their external suppliers.

CapMon runs on one or several servers distributed in the company’s network. It collects information from the network components and servers monitored, thus providing a unique overview of the IT infrastructure. Based on the data collected CapMon generate visual graphs, showing the load of the units monitored.
